Steubenville Police

Vandalism: Steubenville City Schools told police two males stole a fire extinguisher, a piece of copper pipe, a hard hat and a pair of safety glasses from Steubenville City Schools new STEM building construction site, Wednesday. They said the men then sprayed the contents of the extinguisher on school buses.

Incidents: Three juveniles, one of them a male wearing all black and a ski mask, were seen checking vehicles in the vicinity of Mary Street to see if they were unlocked, Wednesday. While police were patrolling the Moreland Drive area another resident flagged them down, describing the same three individuals and said he watched them approach a resident's front door and start pounding on it, and when there was no answer walked around the side of the house and got in their backyard, then swam in the absent homeowner's pool. He ordered them out and they fled, and he said he would notify the homeowner what had happened. Minutes later, a Lawson Avenue resident reported her vehicle had been broken into. Police said the vehicle was in her garage, located in the alley directly behind Eve Drive, and said her passenger side window had been broken and there was a brick on the front seat. She said she’d watched three individuals walking through the alley but didn't think anything of it, and the description she gave police matched what other residents had given them earlier. She said there was nothing of value in plain view and the only thing missing appeared to be a Vape.

Disruptive: An officer on patrol heard a male shouting in a parking lot on Mall Drive, Wednesday. He said a group of older teens were gathered near a vehicle with a male yelling at another vehicle that was exiting the parking lot. The officer said the juvenile was "shouting obscenities and beckoning the other motorist to come back and fight," and told police the other vehicle drove up to him and the driver, an older male, "began swearing at him and told him to learn how to drive and was acting ‘tough," but when he shouted back the other man driver left. Police warned the youth his behavior could be considered disorderly conduct.

Screaming: A woman walking past a marijuana dispensary began screaming that a man working there was a child molester, Wednesday. He said he didn't know her or why she would call him that and when police located the woman moments later, she admitted she didn't know him. She said had told that a man working there "was a child predator."

In custody: Police spotted a man wanted on a felonious assault warrant issued after Wednesday's grand jury report driving north on Lawson Avenue, Wednesday. Jermaine Roosevelt Crawford Jr., 25, 103 Cunningham Drive, Steubenville, is being held without bond in the Jefferson County Jail, police said. Crawford had been indicted earlier in the day for his alleged role in a barroom brawl on May 14 brawl at Club 106. The indictments allege the seven caused "serious physical harm" to two men, causing one of them to be flown by medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital. The other fled before officers arrived.

Didn't see anything: A caller reported a man had overdosed and a woman gave him Narcan at a location in the 100 block of North Fourth Street, but police spoke with the resident as well as the male and female involved and all denied knowing anything about it.

Tackled: A Sherman Avenue resident said her boyfriend was in an altercation down the street and when she realized her children had followed him there, she ran after them and was attacked by another woman, Wednesday. Police said she had slight scuff marks on her knees, but no obvious injuries. The other woman admitted fighting with the caller and claimed the caller was the aggressor and she’d only hit her in self-defense. The caller admitted she "may have swung" at the woman, but said she wants to pursue charges if footage could be gathered from cameras in the area.
